Public transport navigation system acts as an important role in transporting people on domestic trips. the main concern of the traffic agents in every city is to have the citizens devote their confidence in public transport systems.
Experience shows that if the passengers have knowledge of the transportation schedules, they are able to plan their trips more effectively.
Considering the growth in ICT technology and Global Positioning System (GPS), managing and scheduling public transport systems has become more effective and proportionally inexpensive. Urban management in public transportation are changing rapidly to use these inexpensive technologies to provide better services to passengers and to obtain their satisfaction.
Public Transportation navigation systems in most of the cities are rapidly equipped with GPS system and instant video and audio information transmission.
A GPS system consists of three main sections:
Information accruing system at control center: The purpose of this section is accrue the knowledge of the status of each of the public transport vehicles. in a control system there are several different systems including a central control and monitoring system which includes a sender and a receiver and quite a numbers of peripherals. Using this system give us the ability to exchange both audio and textual messages between the traffic control and public transport navigation system
Data Analysis: the aggregated data is analyzed by the central computer. The central computer uses this information to show the current status on a central monitor, as well as a map, at every moment. In addition to that, using several statistical distributions, the system will estimate the arrival time to the next station. The information can be stored on the central computer for future usage and reporting needs. The reports can be announced and traversed to every vehicle and station, at every moment, at every lane.
Information Distribution system: the aggregated information can be send to several places based on the needs using different mechanisms. The entire aggregated information can be send to the managers over the internet for decision making and accruing the current status.moreover it is possible to inform the passengers about the arrival time of the next bus via various ways including internet, SMS, mobile phones and dedicated devices in bus stations.
